FLAGSTAFF – The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) recently approved a grant to the Sunshine Rescue Mission and the Hope Cottage. Alliance Bank of Arizona was the sponsoring bank for the Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant for this project. The Hope Cottage is a residential program that assists homeless women and children. The new facility will house up to seventy (70) women and children.
The project will be awarded a $1 million grant for brick and mortar which will provide a substantial portion of construction funding for the building. By completing their fundraising campaign, the Sunshine Rescue Mission will raise additional funds for furnishing the new residence and for operating funds for the first year.
Alliance Bank’s Senior Vice President, Sherri Slayton states, “Alliance Bank is proud to assist low income families and supporting the Sunshine Rescue Mission and the New Hope Cottage is a wonderful way to give back and help our community.”
Steve Perry, Executive Director of Sunshine Rescue Mission – Hope Cottage said, “This is the culmination of a dream of the organization for the last five years; to provide a home for women and children who have no place to go.”
The community is invited to join the Sunshine Rescue Mission and Alliance Bank of Arizona for the “Cornerstone Dedication” of the Hope Cottage building on July 1, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at 2211 E. Johnson Avenue, Flagstaff, AZ.
